Montgomery — The man shot and killed by an off-duty Montgomery County Sheriff's deputy on Feb. 3 at a Waugh gas station is Leroy Freeman, 49, of Tuskegee, according to a news release from Sgt. Steve Jarrett of the Alabama State Troopers.
The deputy shot Freeman at approximately 9:45 p.m. at a BP gas station. The Alabama Bureau of Investigation took over the investigation at the request of Montgomery County Sheriff D.T. Marshall because the shooting involved an off-duty deputy.
ABI continues its work and will turn over the final report to the Montgomery County district attorney.
